Despite the Growing Number of Calls For Madigan’s Resignation, Pritzker Stands by Madigan

When it comes to standing up against corruption, Pritzker chooses political rhetoric over real action on much needed ethics reforms.

Reports of Speaker Madigan calling around to his members, asking them if he should resign, come after a handful of Democratic legislators joined Republicans and newspapers from around the state demanding Speaker Madigan resign immediately.

One call Madigan doesn’t have to make is to Governor Pritzker. Despite the growing calls from others, Pritzker continues to stand by Madigan, refusing to call for his resignation. Pritzker has been asked by the media why he is changing his resignation standard for Madigan. But, Pritzker doesn’t have a good answer, deflecting, hiding behind other’s responses, and providing convoluted responses to the questions.

Instead of siding with the people of Illinois, Pritzker is protecting the same corrupt status quo that has plagued Springfield for decades. In addition to refusing to call for Madigan’s resignation, Pritzker is also refusing to take immediate action on much-needed ethics reforms. Pritzker continues to brush aside calls for a special session to address the corruption that has led to investigations into Madigan for bribery and Pritzker for property tax fraud.

When it comes to standing up against corruption, Pritzker chooses political rhetoric over real action on much needed ethics reforms.
