Following the indictments from the bribery scheme around Speaker Mike Madigan, Governor Pritzker once again refused to call for Madigan’s resignation.

In response to the Governor’s lack of leadership, Illinois Rising Action’s executive director Kayleen Carlson, released the following statement:

“Today we saw Governor Pritzker embody weakness and cowardice. His refusal to call for Speaker Madigan’s resignation is a complete abdication of his responsibility as the state’s highest office holder. Governor Pritzker’s unwillingness to stand up for Illinois families by demanding an end to the decades-long reign of corruption led by Speaker Madigan is a clear sign to Illinois families that they cannot expect the Governor to have their backs on any other issue moving forward.”
