Pritzker’s Calls for Madigan to Answer Questions Are Just Empty Talking Points

Pritzker’s latest request for Madigan to answer questions is nothing new as he’s used this empty talking point numerous times the last few months, which has resulted in nothing more than providing Madigan more time to plot his next move.

Amid the latest indictments to be handed down from the U.S. Attorney, Governor Pritzker chose to call on Speaker Madigan to answer questions from the media and public, rather than call for his immediate resignation. Governor Pritzker’s latest request for Madigan to answer questions is nothing new as he’s used this empty talking point numerous times the last few months, which has resulted in nothing more than providing Speaker Madigan more time to plot his next move.

Back in July, the Governor called on Speaker Madigan to answer questions from the media but that didn’t happen. In September, when House Republicans pushed for the special investigative committee on Madigan, Pritzker asked for Madigan to participate and answer questions, of course that didn’t happen. It is clear, Governor Pritzker’s calls for Madigan to answer questions is nothing more than empty talking points.

As the highest ranking Democratic official in the state, Governor Pritzker is choosing to lead from behind. Rank-and-file House Democrats are stepping up and joining their Republican colleagues by calling for Madigan’s resignation and publicly announcing their intention to vote against Madigan as Speaker. Pritzker is making it abundantly clear that he would rather continue to stand by Madigan rather than to join his fellow Democratic and Republican colleagues.

The people of Illinois deserve more than weakness and empty leadership from their Governor.
